The cottage was completely amazing
Thank you so much for the best week. The cottage was completely amazing, so clean and all the lovely touches the owner had done to make us feel welcome from the bubbly in the fridge to the yummy biscuits and soup left for us. Couldn’t of asked for more and hope we can return one day. We so needed a holiday and this was just perfect, has done us the world of good and we didn’t want to leave. Thank you so very much, Willow Barn is a very special place.

A superbly equipped and comfortable cottage near Ullswater. Great location for the Northern Lake District, including Keswick and Ambleside. A good local pub and all the essentials nearby. Easy to get to from main routes, yet still incredibly peaceful.

A beautifully renovated and equipped cottage
We had a fabulous week in Willow Barn. A beautifully renovated and equipped cottage that was totally spotless. We also had a very warm welcome from the owner and later discovered a welcome bottle of Prosecco and biscuits, which were a lovely surprise. Willow Barn was cosy and very comfortable. We woke up most mornings to cows grazing in the field which was a lovely sight to wake up to. The weather was very changeable, but this didn’t deter our long daily walks, in fact we were able to sit out and enjoy the last of the sunshine with a few drinks in the lovely garden. We did venture to both local pubs (each half a mile either side of the cottage). The Quiet Bar was amazing, just a pity it was a bit quiet as it was end of season (October). Unfortunately there isn’t much else nearby, but we knew this anyway. We wanted to be away from it all to unwind and we did that. Thanks to Charlotte for creating a lovely and charming space with remarkable views. Pauline and Dave

Best cottage we have stayed in
We had the most amazing time at Willow Barn, which really is the jewel in the crown that is the beautiful Lake District. The views from the garden towards Ullswater are spectacular. The location of the cottage is ideal – a short walk away from the local pub, and a short journey from the nearest village of Pooley Bridge. It’s location is also pretty central to so many places in the Lakes – including Keswick and Penrith. Windermere isn’t too far away by car either. The cottage itself is spectacular, and has been renovated to an extremely high level. Although contemporary, Willow Barn retains its traditional and rustic feel, so credit must be given to Charlotte who owns and has refurbished this beautiful place. The extra small touches also added to the charm and welcome we received – some real ales in the fridge, and a cake loaf from a local baker ready and waiting on the kitchen worktop. Willow Barn has been the best cottage that we have stayed in so far, and one that we will certainly be returning to in the future!

Very luxurious place to stay
A wonderful cottage where it’s obvious to see the owner has taken time to decorate it thoughtfully and tastefully… A very luxurious place to stay… The only thing I would want to see in the future if I stayed again would be somewhere to dry boots and waterproofs off after a wet day walking. There almost needs to be a boot room or drying room or somewhere to stash outdoor wear rather than in the beautiful lounge. Other than that, it was a perfect place to stay.. Quiet, yet close to amenities and pubs.. I wouldn’t recommend the Brackenrigg pub for food though.. I’d say it’s nothing special, and service was pretty poor.. We ended up travelling to the Kirkstone Inn in Kirkstone pass.. amazing food, and a proper walkers pub. We’d definitely come and stay here again..

The view from the property is outstanding
Lovely, comfortable cottage in an ideal situation for visiting the lakes. Everything we needed was provided, and although in the middle of British summertime (!) we did light the woodburner on a couple of evenings. The view from the property is outstanding looking over Ullswater and surrounding mountains and there are several lake walks and hill climbs nearby. We would certainly recommend Willow Barn and hope to visit again in the future. Thank you to Charlotte for the welcoming Prosecco and biscuits.

Very quiet and wonderful wildlife from the window
Beautiful setting and cottage – attention to detail and quality of funishings are excellent (beds and sofas are often not up to sctatch but not here – both were very comfortable). Very quiet and wonderful wildlife from the window. We had a lovely week.

Beautifully decorated and furnished
Wonderful, relaxing stay at Willow Barn. Would highly recommend this cottage which is beautifully decorated and furnished and has a well equipped kitchen. Lovely area with so much to do and see that you’ll need to revisit! Charlotte is a super host and left some Prosecco to get our holiday off to a great start! Thank you for a lovely time.

We did not want to come home
This being our first visit to the Lake District, we could not have found such a beautiful cottage. We were met by Charlotte the owner she was lovely. She had left us a bottle of bubbly and some biscuits, what a lovely gesture. Of all the holidays we have had, this is the only holiday we have had where we did not want to come home. A fantastic holiday, hope to go again 2018.

We loved the layout of the cottage so modern but cosy
Located in a stunning location above Ullswater, Willow barn was easy to find with ample parking. We loved the layout of the cottage so modern but cosy, the log burner was great and the view from the garden was so beautiful. We had two really sunny days but the changing weather conditions showed us every aspect of the beautiful mountain scenery. The red squirrels, sheep and birds were very entertaining. We walked most days and spent fantastic evenings in the garden. There are great walks that you can do from the cottage along the Ullswater way. Thanks for a great holiday,

A really wonderful stay
What a lovely cottage this is! The delightful owner Charlotte met us there and treated us to chocolate biscuits and a bottle of bubbly so our break was off to a very good start. The cottage is beautiful with lovely calm colours, spotless and with everything you need. Loved the boiling hot tap, so easy to use. Super comfy beds with different duvets and pillows to suit. Lots of dvd’s along with box games .Local info and a map was very useful. As for the views from the windows……fabulous. In the four nights we were there, we had a snow shower followed by bright sun, the snow topped mountains were stunning, blue skies and singing ,just peace and quiet. We even saw a red squirrel (a first for me in 50 years!) munching away from feeding station in the garden. We loved the log burner in the evenings, so much so that we didnt eat out once, it was so cosy ! Pubs, restaurants just handy at Pooley Bridge along with a small shop / post office. I will never forget the Kirkstone pass, unbelievable views and not far from the cottage. All in all, a really wonderful stay at the lovely Willow Barn, thanks Charlotte, it’s a real credit to you
